Wonderful is He!

One of my favorite things to do is to be outside. Whether hiking, being on the water or going to the beach, I love exploring God’s wonderful creation! His creation reminds me of his power and splendor. Every blade of grass, every flower, every mountainside, every animal was created by God. When I think about all that God has created, how perfectly designed it is, I am awestruck. This world and this universe is so vast and God created it all! One of the themes to Psalm 93 is “His Creation Reminds Us of His Great Power”. The Psalm will be posted below so that we can read it together!

In this short yet powerful Psalm, we see so heavily the power of God. In the first verse, we see the word “LORD”, I want to remind you that this is referring to Yahweh; the covenant God of Israel above every idol or false god. The first three words, “The LORD reigns” stands as a proclamation that He is King! The first verse continues by discussing the clothing of God. Majesty and strength, they cover Him just as our clothes do today. Majesty can be a difficult word to define accurately, but I would describe it best as his authority and grandeur. To help, think of royalty today. They wear elaborate clothing to enhance their impression of their power. God’s strength and power are not limited to His physical appearance and makeup, but flows through what he does.

I love the promise that verse two holds... it is probably one of my favorite verses! Royalty and other people of power only hold their positions of power for a short time. Our God reigns forever, from everlasting to everlasting. His life is without a beginning and without an ending. I love the next few verses, it really paints a picture of just how powerful our God really is. He commands the seas, spoke galaxies into existence, and He created you and me! The last verse is so important. God’s perfect moral character is visible everywhere you look, He will never do anything imperfect. This places a demand on us but should also reassure us that we can always place our trust in Him.

This Psalm is so powerful and was wonderful to break down! I have very much enjoyed this summer of Psalms and am looking forward to the next book and topic that we dive into!! Be sure to check out the blog on Friday to read Sam’s post on Psalm 100!!
